Are you feeling any of the following?

  • Regret for not sticking with piano lessons.

  • Like the opportunity to learn an instrument has passed you by long ago, but you’re brave enough to try one last time.

  • Worried you’ll break out in hives if you have to perform, but you still want to find a way to make music.

  • In need of some dedicated self-care and meditative space.

Here's a window into what Zen Music can do for you

Piano +

On piano, I will teach you how to improvise. For me, it's a form of emotionally present meditation. You can let what's in you flow out as sound, and notice and let it be what it is, while simultaneously framing it in a loose story that you can accept and embrace as each moment unfolds.

You could even record bits of this and send it to a friend who may be struggling, as a bit of comfort.

Singing/Songwriting +

I will help you find your voice.

Sing your way through your mundane moments, infusing them with magic, whether that is while you clean like a Disney princess, or while you march and protest for justice.

○ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ○

How do I sign up for the course? +

How much does it cost +

$120/month USD. Your credit card will be automatically billed each month.

(The first 10 Beta subscribers will have an exclusive price of only $60, and this price will never increase, as a thank you for your faith and feedback as this course develops.)

How much time will it take to learn my instrument? +

The answer to that depends on your goals. With consistent practice you will notice improvement in skills and the sounds you make. How are we to say when we have arrived? In my experience it is less about the destination, and more about the journey.

Do you offer any discounts? +

My first 10 subscribers will have 50% off, but otherwise I will be keeping the price point at $120. I chose this price based on the cost of a session of therapy, because I hope your own self-guided music journey will help you heal.

Can I pause my subscription or skip a month? +

Yes, but I recommend maintaining your subscription because even if you take a break from practicing for a month or two, there will be resources for mental health and live stream events to participate in as a part of your membership.

Will there be performance requirements? +

No, you will never have to show a single soul your music, this is for you. If, however, you would like the opportunity to share your creations and your process, I am happy to view your submissions, and may ask if you would like it posted in the Student Highlights section of the website. Again, never a requirement, totally optional.

What if I run into a bump in the road? Is there a way to reach out for personalized support/instruction / troubleshooting? +

Yes! Like I mentioned above, you can share recordings of you playing, and request feedback. (As a member you will also be the first notified if any exclusive one-on-one lesson slots open up, which you may apply for if you feel you need a personalized boost to your learning.)

Are you certified to do music therapy? +

Excellent question! No, I have not gone back to school to get a Masters in Music Therapy. This is for a couple of reasons. For one, being a licensed therapist actually makes it more difficult for me to help the people I most hope to help, because everything has to go through health insurance and such. The red tape and hoops involved in me getting and maintaining a certification don't guarantee I will find a position where I can help the demographic I most relate to. And I would also be limited in what of my own processes I could share. All that aside, I made the price similar to one session of therapy.

I had tried piano lessons many times in the past, but always ended up quitting for one reason or another...until we met Sterling. I have now been able to make progress in an area that I thought I would never be able to. They have helped me to move past some of my blocks, and has provided an environment in which I do not feel stressed or anxious to play.
